About Us
How We Started
This all started when I was in first grade. My dad
catered a Christmas Eve dinner at Akron Children’s
Hospital on the 5600 floor which is the cancer floor . I
decided I wanted to help provide gifts for all the patients
on that floor who had to spend Christmas in the hospital.
In order to raise money I made pot holders and sold them
for 1 dollar each . That first year I was able to raise 500
dollars!

The Reason
After a couple of years of doing pot holders I
decided to change over to Christmas ornaments. I have
been making ornaments almost every year since.
In 2021 my grandfather Sam Sayre passed away and
I decided I wanted to create a non-profit organization to
honor my grandpa and all that he stood for ! I came up
with the name Faithful Hearts and decided I wanted to
make a difference by helping others.
Our first official cause was The Zack Sours giving hope foundation through the Village Network. Since 2021, we have been able to help multiple amazing causes, such as Patio for Patriots, Care and Share, Forget Me Not Baskets, Village Network, The Viola Startzman Clinic and many more.

Most Recently
I had a vision back in the spring of 2023, that I wanted
to directly help my community. But I wasn’t quite sure how. After seeing food cost rise and food insecurity increase, I decided that creating a foodshed for our community would be a way that I could make a difference. So in October of 2023 I was able to open the Faithful Hearts Foodshed in Smithville! It has run under the motto “leave what you can, take what you need.”
We hope to continue making a difference by helping
others, and leaving a mark on our community for many
more years to come!
